- Recently, Bill Uhrich, a writer for the Reading Eagle wrote an article on his views on Substitionary Atonement. After quoting Wayne Grudem’s definition, Bill Uhrich says. “That is just whacked.”
- After reading the article, Pastor Grossman responded by saying, “I am at a loss for words to explain my reaction. So I will simply say that I am as whacked as Wayne Grudem. And so is the Bible”. Pastor Grossman goes on to defend the doctrine of Substitutionary Atonement by using the Scriptures.
- In Bill Ulrich’s final article on Substitutionary Atonement, he quotes Pastor Grossman and summarizes his letter. After that, he goes on to refute the doctrine by using a contemporary Mennonite theologian named J. Denny Weaver who offers less violent views on the atonement.
