We live in a chaotic age where the message seems to be, “Hurry up! Hurry up! Hurry up!” We need to ask ourselves,”Is this a message with which the Bible agrees?” Today’s devotional will help you think about this and make some wise decisions. God bless you.
Because of Calvary,
Isaiah 28:16 (ESV)
therefore thus says the Lord God,
“Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion,
a stone, a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation:
‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’
“A man on occasion took the Staten Island Ferry. He wasn’t too crazy about it, however, because if he missed a ferry late at night, he had to wander the streets of lower Manhattan until the next one arrived.
“One evening he spotted the ferry about fifteen feet from the dock. He didn’t want to wait for the next one, so he made a running leap and landed on his hands and knees ― a bit bruised, but at least he was save on deck.
“Pulling himself to his feet, he proudly said with a smile, ‘Well, I made it, didn’t I?’
“‘You sure did,’ a passenger replied, but if you had waited for a minute or two, the ferry would have docked.’” [The World’s Greatest Collection of Dad Jokes compiled and edited by Glenn Hascall, (Uhrichsville, OH: Barbour Books, 2017) p. 22]
