Luke 15:22-23 (ESV)
22 But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate.
“The Father received the prodigal without a single word of rebuke. He did but say, ‘Take off his rags;’ he did but command them to kill the fatted calf that they might make merry, not a word did he speak of his hungry look, or his filth, or of the far country, or even of the harlots with whom he had spent his substance.” [Charles Haddon Spurgeon, The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit LI, (London: Passmore and Alabaster, 1905), p. 377]
